Storytelling school

What to read/watch about storytelling?

Author of the article: Tatiana Zhakova
Journalist, linguist, teacher of storytelling with 10 years of experience
In 2015 she created and promoted her project about Nizhny Novgorod, nnstories.ru, after which she created a course called "Storytelling: How to Tell Your Story" based on it. Over 4,000 students have taken the course.

A linguist by education, she quickly masters new areas. Now she is actively studying screenwriting and storytelling in movies/serials, and writes about it in her project's blog.
  • Robert McKee "Storyonomics"
A very cool book about how storytelling works in advertising. I'm reading it myself right now and savoring every chapter!
  • "A Million Dollar Story."
From the same author, the most classic and well-known book on how to write screenplays.
  • TV Tropes website
What tropes and archetypes are used in movies and TV shows, with examples and explanations. A huge library of examples.
  • The Take YouTube channel
An examination of current themes in film, serial culture, and simply life events.
  • Tik Tok Sonchi Rave (x_sonchy)
With humor and aesthetics, the practicing writer reveals the tricks of screenwriting.
  • And, of course, my course "Storytelling: How to Tell Your Story".
